LEU+ Health and Safety (EHS) Liaison
About this role
Field-based EHS Liaison supporting LEU+ fuel fabrication facility construction at Westinghouse's Columbia, SC location. You will conduct site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; ensure OSHA and environmental regulatory compliance; coordinate with contractors; and maintain safety, environmental, and permit documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- —Conduct daily site inspections, audits, and walkdowns to identify hazards and verify EH&S compliance with OSHA and applicable standards
- —Participate in hazard assessments and verify work controls are properly implemented
- —Investigate incidents, recommend corrective actions, and maintain safety records and documentation
- —Promote proper PPE use, safe work practices, and support safety meetings, orientations, and field coaching
- —Ensure environmental compliance including waste management, stormwater (SWPPP) oversight, spill prevention/response, and maintain environmental records
- —Track permit compliance, communicate requirements to project teams, and support regulatory inspections and agency coordination
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field
- —3–5 years of construction safety or EH&S field experience
- —Knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and safe work practices
- —Familiarity with environmental compliance and permitting processes
- —OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain)
- —Strong documentation and risk identification skills
Desired
- —3+ years of experience in nuclear or highly regulated environments (e.g., CFFF)
- —3+ years of experience working with subcontractors in construction settings
- —Background in mechanical, piping, HVAC, or fabrication
