ITER EHS Leader

Lead EHS and radiation protection oversight for Westinghouse's Sectors Welding contract on the ITER tokamak fusion reactor in Southern France. Ensure safety, health, environmental, and radiological compliance across a multi-year international project involving advanced welding operations, quality control, and regulatory adherence to French INB standards and international fusion energy requirements.

Monitor EHS aspects of site activities including maintenance, inspection, and construction operations. Coordinate EHS personnel, define objectives, and ensure performance meets project needs. Investigate incidents with stakeholders to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. Lead EHS team, interface with project managers, client representatives, authorities, and subcontractors. Provide training and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with Westinghouse, client, and regulatory requirements. Prepare site activities in advance and finalize end-of-project EHS documentation in coordination with Site Quality and HSE Manager. Maintain relationships with external stakeholders and Authorized Notified Bodies. Operate autonomously with authority to stop activities in case of risk or non-compliance. Coach team members, reinforce positive safety behaviors, and manage team schedules. Synthesize information and coordinate EHS actions contributing to performance improvement.

Master's degree or equivalent in EHS/Health and Safety Engineering. Excellent command of English and French (spoken and written). Deep knowledge of French EHS standards and laws, particularly Act No 93-1418 and Decree No 94-1159, and French INB Order of 7 February 2012. Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action management. Practical skills: safety harness use, protective suits, scaffolding inspection, fire extinguisher handling, first aid. Certifications and authorizations relevant to EHS activities. Experience working in international project environments. Ability to manage pressure and communicate effectively with external stakeholders.

Experience in nuclear or fusion energy projects. Familiarity with advanced welding operations and non-destructive testing methods (VT, PT, LT, RT, UT). Knowledge of radiation protection standards and practices.
