About this role
Westinghouse seeks a Nuclear Engineer to join the Pumps & Motors Services department in Nivelles, Belgium. You'll oversee maintenance and refurbishment operations on Primary Motor-Pump Groups (GMPP)—critical 100-tonne electromechanical components for European and Asian nuclear plants. Responsibilities include technical documentation, process qualification, workshop liaison, expertise assessments per RCCM/ASME codes, and on-site customer support to ensure safe compliance with nuclear standards.
Responsibilities
- —Write technical documentation and procedures applicable to contracts
- —Qualify new processes to prove feasibility, repeatability, and compliance with product requirements
- —Serve as daily liaison between project management and workshop operations
- —Ensure refurbishment operations are correctly executed and meet product requirements
- —Verify expertise assessments are properly conducted
- —Provide technical support during difficult operations or first-time tasks
- —Participate in writing expertise assessment summaries (accept as-is, repair, or scrap determinations) based on RCCM/ASME codes
- —Identify deviations and propose acceptance or remediation for customer approval
- —Participate in workshop operations feedback and procedure updates
- —May support operations at customer sites
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, general engineering, or industrial engineering (or equivalent)
- —Minimum 2 years of professional experience
- —Experience in fabrication or maintenance of mechanical/electromechanical components
- —Ability to read and understand detailed technical drawings and complex mechanical assemblies
- —Knowledge of machining processes, bolted assemblies, welding, non-destructive testing, and metrology
- —Ability to research and apply construction codes (RCCM/ASME) and procedures
- —Strong technical writing skills (procedures, work instructions)
- —Strong communication skills for diverse audiences (project managers, workshop supervisors, technicians, clients)
Desired
Prior experience in the nuclear industry, particularly with nuclear plant components
Location
Nivelles, Belgium; onsite; approximately 4–5 year position with potential initial placement at a nuclear plant; may involve customer site operations
