About this role
Oklo seeks a Hardware Test Engineer with 4+ years of regulated industry testing experience to develop, execute, and manage thermo-hydraulic, materials, and mechanical testing projects for advanced fission reactors. You'll ensure quality, safety, and compliance while working on a startup team transforming clean energy.
Responsibilities
- —Develop detailed test plans outlining protocols for thermo-hydraulic and sodium testing aligned with quality standards
- —Conduct hands-on testing: set up experiments, monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and execute tests efficiently and accurately
- —Compile, analyze, and communicate test data through clear reports identifying performance outcomes, risks, and actionable insights
- —Manage test procurement processes, coordinate with suppliers, and oversee sourcing of tools, equipment, and materials
- —Oversee testing projects from initiation to completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain timelines, quality, and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in a technical field (nuclear, mechanical, or aerospace engineering)
- —At least 4 years of hands-on test engineering experience in a highly regulated industry
- —Ability to lift, move, and position objects up to 30 lbs in all directions
- —Valid driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles and machinery
- —Proficiency in thermo-hydraulic, materials, and/or mechanical testing methodologies
- —Deep understanding of regulatory requirements in nuclear or aerospace industries
- —Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- —Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired
- —Advanced degree in engineering
- —Proven expertise in designing and executing test plans
- —Proficiency in instrumentation, data acquisition, and control methods
- —Familiarity with NQA-1 test control requirements
- —Experience managing end-to-end test projects including procurement and cross-functional coordination
Location
Onsite in Idaho Falls, Idaho; travel up to 10%; must travel to Santa Clara, CA headquarters twice quarterly
