About this role

Fuel Performance Engineer at Oklo responsible for analyzing and verifying current and future fuel designs for Aurora advanced reactors. You'll conduct multi-physics analyses, develop modeling and simulation tools, and collaborate across reactor design, fuel fabrication, and licensing teams to support advanced reactor fuel qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and novel fuel design performance across expected operating conditions and postulated off-normal conditions
  • Devise analysis methodologies that efficiently build confidence in designs, including software development of modeling and simulation tools
  • Perform verification and validation of modeling and simulation tools in support of analyses
  • Support experimental fuel campaigns
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to provide technical feedback to design teams
  • Document work using modern tools and techniques, and write technical reports

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with nuclear fuel performance analysis
  • Familiarity with metallic fuels
  • Experience with fuel analysis and fuel performance software (e.g., BISON, LIFE-METAL)
  • Experience in material selection and material analysis
  • Fluency in Python

Location, schedule, and travel

Remote with required travel to Santa Clara, CA headquarters twice quarterly; first two weeks of onboarding must be in-person at headquarters.
