About this role
Fire Watch position at Millstone Nuclear Plant (Dominion Energy). Entry-level, part-time 12-month contract role supporting nuclear safety operations through vigilant monitoring, fire prevention, and strict adherence to nuclear facility procedures. Responsible for identifying fire hazards in high-risk areas such as welding operations and radiological controlled areas.
Responsibilities
- Visually monitor assigned work locations or patrol multiple areas to identify potential signs of combustion including smoke, fire, or excessive heat
- Assess high hazard conditions (e.g., welding) to identify situations that may lead to fire development
- Operate fire suppression equipment per procedures and training (e.g., fire extinguishers)
- Wear proper personal protective equipment, including following procedures for donning and doffing in Radiological Controlled Areas
- Complete required training and follow written and verbal directives or procedures
- Notify team members in the event of emergency
- Maintain strict adherence to Westinghouse, Dominion, and Millstone Power Plant regulations and procedures
Location, schedule, and travel
Millstone Nuclear Plant, Waterford, CT. Part-time contract for 12 months; 12.5-hour shifts; onsite. Physical demands: extended standing/sitting/walking, climbing scaffolding/ladders/stairs, exposure to humid conditions and extreme temperatures.
