Equipment Specialist
About this role
Equipment Specialist role at a nuclear power station focused on planning, testing, receiving, storing, assembling, adjusting, and repairing station electrical equipment including power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, and associated accessories. Requires hands-on technical expertise, ability to instruct others, and coordination with contractors on modernization and maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- —Instruct others or perform routine and emergency tests on station electrical equipment as required
- —Prepare and maintain station electrical equipment records
- —Develop and assist with presentations in Centralized Station Electrician Training Schools
- —Coordinate bidding contracts and monitor contractor performance
- —Investigate failures or malfunctions of electrical equipment, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions
- —Check all details of installation and release electrical equipment for operation
- —Perform or direct modernization and rebuilding of station electrical equipment
Qualifications
Associate's degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education/experience. Equivalent military training in technical/technician fields (aviation, nuclear instrumentation) accepted. Minimum 3 years' experience in Station or Protection & Control related activities. Recent experience (within 6 months) as Station Electrician or equivalent with another utility or contractor preferred.

Working knowledge of PCs and various types of test equipment
Location
Heavy physical demand; exerting 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, and/or 10–20 lbs constantly to move objects
