Engineer - Plant Hatch

Engineer position at Plant Hatch (Southern Nuclear Company), a two-unit pressurized water reactor facility near Baxley, GA. Role supports nuclear facility operations with assignments varying by background: system engineer, program engineer, component engineer, design engineer, or reactor engineer. Responsibilities include system reliability, technical support for operations and maintenance, long-term performance planning, regulatory compliance (NRC Maintenance Rule, in-service inspection), design implementation, and emergency response duties.
Responsibilities
- —Ensure reliability of assigned plant systems and solve system/component problems
- —Provide direct technical support for operation and maintenance activities
- —Plan long-term performance improvements for assigned systems
- —Direct implementation of assigned programs (fire protection, Equipment Qualification, in-service inspection, NRC Maintenance Rule compliance, component programs)
- —Prepare and coordinate designs, calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits
- —Conduct field walk-downs for constructability and construction coordination
- —Perform fuel inspections and specify fuel movement determinations (reactor engineers)
- —Conduct physics testing and support operations in control rod movements (reactor engineers)
- —Lead spent fuel audits and perform reactor engineering calculations (reactor engineers)
- —Manage special projects as assigned
- —Participate in refueling outage assignments
- —Fulfill on-call duty engineer and emergency plan response requirements
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- —Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions based on experience and industry practices
- —Strong oral and written communication skills
- —Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
- —Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- —Ability to work efficiently across organizations
- —Must live within 90 miles of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility
Desired
- —Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree
Location
On-site at Plant Hatch, Baxley, GA; must reside within 90 miles of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability; includes on-call duty and emergency plan response requirements.
