About this role

Electrical/Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer at Harris Nuclear Plant supporting maintenance engineering for a Westinghouse PWR (2948 MWth). This Engineer III or Senior Engineer role focuses on electrical system reliability, component maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and operability determinations with independent work capability and mentoring responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise in identification, analysis, and resolution of electrical system problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Support troubleshooting, evaluate equipment degradation, and coordinate component reliability improvements using Preventive Maintenance, Condition-Based Maintenance, and Predictive Maintenance techniques
  • Serve as designated owner for assigned electrical systems and provide tactical day-to-day maintenance engineering support
  • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities to accomplish business goals and manage decisions affecting operations
  • Prepare thorough technical reports, correspondence, and documentation with analysis capability for complex problems
  • Conduct engineering investigations with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating problem resolution
  • Provide equipment technical support for Operability Determinations and support review of Operations and Maintenance procedures
  • Analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes; stay current with nuclear industry developments and technologies
  • Coordinate work effectively across teams and demonstrate strong oral and written communication
  • Coach and mentor engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration
  • Experience with control systems equipment (analog instrumentation, PLCs, DCS)
  • Experience troubleshooting control systems and process instrumentation
  • Knowledge of fluid processes, instrument measuring technologies, and installation practices
  • Skilled in engineering theories, principles, and design issue research methodologies
  • Experience with electrical power systems (Low, Medium, High Voltage)
  • Experience with electrical protective relaying and associated components

Location, schedule, and travel

Harris Nuclear Plant, New Hill, North Carolina. Hybrid work: 2 days remote, 2 days onsite per 4–10 hour workweek after onboarding. ERO callouts with defined response time required; must live within reasonable commute to plant. Industrial environment work required.
