Engineer Assoc. - Sr.
About this role
Entry-level engineering position for new graduates at AEP, applying engineering knowledge to solve well-defined problems under senior engineer guidance. This role involves technical analysis, project planning, and coordination of routine engineering tasks across AEP work areas, including potential assignments at nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
- —Apply engineering theory to solve well-defined problems and provide analysis with guidance from higher-level engineers
- —Assist senior engineers with well-defined portions of complex problems and analyses
- —Coordinate work activities to resolve routine engineering tasks
- —Provide input to routine project planning documents related to scheduling and budget activities
- —Monitor project status and recommend actions accordingly
- —Prepare cost estimates using established standards
- —Perform analysis associated with resolution of routine technical problems
- —Assist in preparation of reports and technical papers
- —Communicate findings effectively both verbally and in writing
- —Perform light physical duties at various work sites, including nuclear facilities
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- —Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively with strong organizational and planning skills
- —Strong written and verbal communication skills
- —Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ability to develop complex spreadsheets
- —Ability to work independently and under general supervision
- —Knowledge of scheduling techniques and project analysis methods
- —Team player with ability to collaborate effectively with others
- —Self-motivated individual with attention to detail and ability to achieve goals
Desired
- —Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination
- —Bachelor's degree in engineering technology with Professional Engineering (PE) license
- —Familiarity with standards, codes, and regulations relevant to the area of assignment
Location
Shift work, call-out overtime, and travel (including overnight) may be required; rare temporary relocation possible. Sedentary physical demand level with occasional light physical duties at various AEP work sites including nuclear facilities where radiation exposure within NRC limits may occur.
