Early Deployments Project Manager
About this role
Oklo is developing advanced nuclear reactors for early commercial deployment. As Early Deployments Project Manager, you'll lead project execution across site characterization, permitting, and deployment phases—managing cross-functional teams, contracts, budgets, and stakeholder coordination in a resource-constrained startup environment. This role bridges engineering, quality assurance, and senior leadership to deliver safety-critical nuclear infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- —Organize early deployments project team efforts with statements of work, clear deliverables, and approved charters
- —Develop Gantt charts and work breakdown structures for project management and status reporting
- —Hold standards on project management policies, procedures, and standards for all related activities
- —Oversee preparation and management of contracting vehicles to support projects
- —Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets; quantify, manage, and communicate risk
- —Ensure contracts include provisions to manage and mitigate project risk
- —Act as central point of communication and updates regarding all project details
- —Regularly update and communicate with vendors, customers, and stakeholders
- —Serve as liaison between senior leadership, project teams, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and resolve conflicts
- —Coordinate with finance and project controller to regularly report on project budget
- —Identify and mitigate financial, timeline, and performance risks
- —Coordinate with Engineering and Quality Assurance to verify requirements and accept deliverables
- —Identify non-conformances and track corrections while updating project impact and managing changes
- —Ensure Safety Related items' quality is properly documented and filed as part of acceptance
- —Coordinate communications and maintain accountability for project milestones
- —Foster culture of accountability, transparency, and common purpose through project management disciplines
- —Monitor project performance and leverage leadership interest to bring additional resources as required
Qualifications
- —5+ years in technical or industrial project management
- —Bachelor's degree in engineering or 4-8 years relevant engineering experience
- —Proficiency in Project Management Software (Primavera and MS Project)
- —Strong understanding of quality assurance standards
- —Technical management experience
- —Experience with technical industrial projects, especially familiarity with permitting, civil engineering, and utilities challenges
- —Ability to recognize, accept, and manage risk
- —Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- —Detail-oriented with strong grammar and spelling
Desired
- —Nuclear experience in design, construction, commissioning, or operations
- —Startup and/or resource constrained environment experience
- —Engineering degree
Location
Remote with required travel to Santa Clara, CA headquarters twice per quarter for team meetings, off-sites, and company events; first two weeks of onboarding on-site.
