Contract Specialist I- Sr
About this role
Contract Specialist role (multiple levels: I, II, III, Senior) supporting Entergy's nuclear and utility supply chain operations. You will develop and negotiate complex service contracts across nuclear projects and operations, manage relationships with internal business units and external suppliers, and ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards, regulatory requirements, and cost optimization.
Responsibilities
- —Develop, lead, and negotiate complex business contracting strategies incorporating market conditions and supplier analysis
- —Execute pre-award contract development and post-award contract administration, including RFx bid process management
- —Create negotiation strategies, establish optimal pricing methodologies, KPIs, and warranty protections
- —Perform detailed market and financial analyses to assess supplier and contract business risk
- —Identify and evaluate new and current supply sources, including local suppliers, to ensure competitive offerings
- —Coordinate with Legal, Tax, Risk Management, and Credit Risk to ensure contract deviations align with Entergy's tolerance levels
- —Actively promote safety behaviors and monitor suppliers to proactively identify safety concerns
- —Perform storm response duties as assigned through Storm Assignment Management System (SAMS) and nuclear Emergency Response Organization (ERO)
- —Deliver documented savings through competitive bidding, direct negotiations, and cost avoidance
- —Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to address contractual needs proactively
- —Analyze and develop company position on claims and disputes with stakeholders
- —Ensure compliance with requirements for savings, diversity, document retention, bidding, and contractor safety
- —Maintain open communications between stakeholders and within Supply Chain to ensure accurate information sharing
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Legal, or related discipline OR equivalent relevant experience (4-13 years depending on level)
- —Skillful application of commercial management processes including supplier diversity and safety metrics
- —Advanced understanding of customer business drivers, objectives, budgets, and key interfaces
- —Proficiency in developing contract strategies and leading negotiations for moderate to complex contracts
- —Competency in market intelligence and pre-award/post-award contract management processes
- —Level-specific experience requirements: I (4+ years), II (2+ years with degree or 6+ without), III (5+ years with degree or 9+ without), Senior (9+ years with degree or 13+ without)
Desired
- —Prior contracting experience in the nuclear or energy industry
- —SC Certification from industry accreditation organization such as CPSM, APICS, or similar
Location
Hybrid role requiring three days per week in-office; based in New Orleans LA, Little Rock AR, The Woodlands TX, or Jackson MS. Relocation assistance not available.
