Required qualifications
- Nuclear Engineer III Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A Master 's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. 4-6 years of engineering experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
- Sr Nuclear Engineer Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school will be considered in lieu of the B.S.
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience. in the utility industry.
- State registration as a Professional Engineer.
About this role
The Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department is the Design Authority for each of Duke Energy’s six nuclear sites. CDE is responsible for the execution of a fleet portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization.
Responsibilities
- Develop the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, which include but are not limited to Stress Analysis, Structural Analysis, Dynamic/Seismic Analysis, Steel and Concrete Design.
- Research engineering and design issues, evaluates alternatives, determines and presents recommendations to resolve issues.
- Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
- Develop or revise design/procurement specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
- Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
- Develop licensing screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
- Proficient in principles of project management.
Location, schedule, and travel
Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.
