About this role

TerraPower seeks a CAE Project Engineer to support the Natrium advanced reactor development program. In this role, you'll plan and coordinate Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis activities, manage 3D modeling and technical deliverables, and serve as the liaison between design engineering, licensing, and CAE teams. You'll ensure all work meets nuclear regulatory standards (ASME, ISO) and project timelines while overseeing CAE team execution and maintaining compliance with quality and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans and coordinate CAE deliverables aligned with Natrium design and licensing timelines
  • Coordinate with design engineers, licensing teams, and procurement to define BIM scope, requirements, and model-data integration needs
  • Create, refine, and manage 3D CAD models (SMART 3D, SMART P&ID) based on engineering specifications
  • Generate and review engineering study deliverables including technical drawings, reports, and data packages in compliance with ASME, ISO, and internal nuclear standards
  • Manage version control and documentation traceability throughout the design lifecycle
  • Oversee CAE team execution, ensuring technical accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor resources, track progress against schedules, and mitigate risks and delays
  • Conduct technical reviews of CAE reports and analysis results to validate accuracy
  • Act as primary liaison between CAE, design engineering, and licensing departments to streamline workflows and integration
  • Ensure all CAE tools and deliverables meet quality standards, nuclear regulatory guidelines, and project requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with 2D/3D Datacentric CAD/BIM applications (SMART 3D, SMART P&ID)
  • Proficiency in BIM platforms for nuclear facility modeling and data synchronization
  • Experience with model-data integration for design-to-procurement collaboration systems
  • Understanding of SQL databases including data extraction, transformation, and loading
  • Ability to write automation scripts in Python, PowerShell, or VBA
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

Desired

  • 1–2 years of hands-on experience with Analysis/Simulation tools (ANSYS, Abaqus)
  • Engineering project management experience
  • Experience in advanced reactor or next-generation nuclear design projects

Location

Onsite; 0–10% travel. Role involves prolonged sitting with 8+ hours daily keyboard/computer work, ability to lift up to 25 lbs, and sustained visual and audio focus.
