About this role
Associate Simulator Software Engineer at Clinton Nuclear Power Station responsible for creating and modifying simulation software logic and dynamic models for the Main Control Room Simulator. You will work independently on simulator maintenance, plant modifications, and enhancements while collaborating with the Training Department and Clean Energy Center (CEC) engineers to support operator training and plant operations.
Responsibilities
- —Assist in planning, designing, building, and managing simulator solutions for Main Control Room Simulator projects
- —Create, modify, and document simulation software logic and dynamic models to meet operational and training requirements
- —Perform simulator software maintenance and support minor plant modifications and enhancements
- —Assist with software configuration management and code reviews, advocating for standard development methodologies
- —Evaluate risks and issues affecting simulator projects
- —Engage with business partners and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver cost-effective solutions
- —Coordinate simulator tasks and collaborate across teams including Training Department, project managers, and CEC engineers
- —Support projects for other CECs in the Constellation fleet as required
- —Provide emergency response, departmental coverage, and outage support activities as directed
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical, or nuclear) or related science; OR Associate's degree in engineering or related science with 2+ years of related experience
- —Maintain minimum or unescorted access requirements and pass favorable medical examination as applicable
Desired
- —Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or nuclear engineering
- —Experience in programming technologies (software development languages and frameworks)
- —Familiarity with engineering print reading and documentation standards
- —Familiarity with network topology and IT systems
- —Experience leading or participating in small project teams
- —Strong teamwork and self-motivation skills in rapidly evolving environments
- —Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
- —Problem-solving and debugging skills
